The water is being held back from the townships of Warracknabeal and Kerang, though they are still in grave danger. Kerang is now isolated, with the final road into town being cut. And now Dimboola is on flood watch as fears arose yesterday that the weir wall would be breached. This morning our state Premier, Ted Bailleau, commented that 25% of our glorious state is affected by this flood crisis. Nothing like that of QLD, but it is still frightening to consider. For those of you in the States, imagine all the states along the East Coast of America experiencing flood events at the same time. That is Australia right now. Already you will have heard that an area larger than the combined countries of France and Germany have been affected in QLD.
But back to the normal program. Because it has been a week since I last posted my WIPs and UFOs, I thought that I would spread out the catch up over several days. So today I am delivering the next three projects. But before I start, on Day 4 I attributed Down in the Garden to Rosalie Quinlan. That did not sit well with me, so I finally checked today. It is actually by Leanne’s House. Sorry about that ladies.
Now on to today’s projects …
The 13th project to be highlighted is Just Nan’s Schoolgirl Basics. I have wanted to teach this project as a class for The Needlework Boutique for a long time, and in 2004 or 2005 started stitching the shop model. For what ever reason, I never got very far.
As you can see, I did not get very far. Schoolgirl Basics is being stitched with DMC floss on 28ct linen.
In the last couple of years I have stocked quite a few of Lizzie Kate’s designs in the shop. I particularly like her ABC’s series. They come with a chart and the threads, making it far easier for both the shop and the customer to obtain all the threads. Although I have ABC Lessons in my stash, the first project that I started in this series is ABC Christmas. I worked solidly on this project for several weeks in 2009, putting it down after Christmas to work on something else. I really do need to get back to this project. It is stitched on 32ct linen.
The final project for today will continue with the Christmas theme. In 2004 I started stitching the 2003 Prairie Schooler Santa. I have been stitching it on 18 or 20ct linen over one thread using Venus cottons. Gee I got a lot done before putting it down. The story of my life! I either get a lot done and put it down or not much at all!
Several of these projects are available from The Needlework Boutique.
Over the last 3 weeks I have been really focussing on Little House Needlework’s Neighbourhood, and am hoping to have it finished by the end of the week. Once it is finished, I will post a picture here.
