In the Studio

Sofa Bed

Last year I started remodelling the studio.  I had to include this sofa bed in the room for 2 reasons:

  1. the shop is in the front room of the bungalow
  2. we regularly have a guest who requires somewhere to sleep.

However, the back frame of the sofa bed had been broken a couple of years ago, when some kids sat on the back of the sofa during a birthday party.  As well as that, the fabric is quite worn and extremely grubby.  The sofa bed is more than 9 years old, which in my experience is a good age for one.  apparently it is still comfortable, but the time has come for it to leave our home.  This week is the first of the twice yearly hard rubbish collections, and this is the easiest way to get rid of old sofas.  So it is going on the curb tonight.

As we still need a guest bed in my studio, I had planned to purchase this daybed.  It has fantastic underbed storage for the spare bedding and towels and other guest paraphernalia, and can be converted into a double bed when necessary.  But my DS is rapidly outgrowing the regular single bed that he has been sleeping in for the last umpteen years. Around mid year we will be replacing his bed with a king single, and moving the old bed into the studio.  I will still be able to dress it up as I want, but the underbed storage will have to be rethought.

I am hoping that in the next few weeks, I can really focus on getting the bungalow set up properly, which means painting the rest of the building, among other things…

Until next time…
