31 Days of WIPs and UFOs…

Oops.  I went quiet last week.  That was rather unintentional.  I was trying to focus on decluttering my home office.  Two weeks ago, you could hardly move in here for all the mess.  Some of it should have been put away properly 3 years ago, other things just built up over the year in 2011.  Once the makeover is finished, I will share it here…

But now, it is catch up time…

The next project that I am presenting to you is a patchwork project.  With I started Jennifer Knol’s Garden of Posies (I think that is the name – I dont have the pattern with me right now) at quilt camp several years ago.  I got the patchwork part done, but had not started on the applique of the flowers.  About 2 weeks ago, I finally sat down and traced my flowers, ready to place them and applique them onto the patchwork top.  I  now need to place the flowers and then start stitching them down.  One of the reasons for my delay is that I prefer the look of needle turn applique, but these pattern suggest blanket stitch applique.  I have decided to do these using blanket stitch…

As I was photographing a few projects at once, I decided to use the Garden of Posies top as part of my backdrop for my photos, and the next one was prefect on the quilt top.  It is the Sewing Pocket from “From the Heart”.  This was the first project in a series of projects where all the profits have been donated to breast cancer support.  As you can see from the picture, although I made a start on this project, I did not get very far…

The next project I first mentioned here.  As I said a year ago, Jean Fletcher was an amazing woman, and although I have yet to finish this project, I feel very blessed and honoured to have had the opportunity to have a one on one lesson with her.  When I first saw her stumpwork cabinet, I promised myself that one day, I too would make myself one.  Over the next 3 years I am participating in Tricia Wilson Nguyen’s Cabinet of Curiosities class, and at this point in time, I am hoping to make the cabinet with the sloping top.

Tomorrow, and every day until the 31st January, I will continue to share with you 3 projects, making up the full quota of 31 WIPS and UFOs in January 2012.
